Sushi to go El Poblado Medellin | Colombia Backpacking

Sushi to go

Sushi to go
Parque Lleras, El Poblado, Medellin (also Mall Master Plaza, Carrito Mall, Laureles, Envigado)

Sushi to go is your best option in Medellin's el Poblado neighborhood for sushi. It's in a great location, on the north side of Parque Lleras. They also have two other locations in El Poblado, as well as spots in Envigado and Laureles.

The sushi is high quality and there are a wide variety of excellent rolls to choose from. I would personally recommend the Jerusalem roll: it's a crispy salmon skin with caviar, salmon, avocado and cream cheese. Another excellent choice is the California roll, which features caviar, sesame, prawns, palm heart, and avocado. Or treat yourself to the interesting Hawaii roll: salmon, cream cheese, and peach.

The location is great, and the service is quite good. They also offer tasty juices such as strawberry, mango, and passionfruit. Another nice touch is that they serve each roll with a dish of shredded carrots, as well as the traditional ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. If you're accustomed to eating sushi in the States, I would ask for extra wasabi beforehand, as the amount they typically give is quite small.

My only complaint with this place is that they, like most of Medellin, seem hellbent on raising prices. In just a couple of months, every roll it seems has gone up by $2.000 or $3.000. However, if you're not looking to spend a lot, they also offer sushi to go for the attractive price of $10.000.  You can select from a variety of rolls for take out. One other thing to mention is that you can mix and match and get two different kinds of rolls (or 5 pieces of sushi a piece) for the same price.

All in all, if you're visiting Medellin, swing by here for some good sushi and friendly service!
