Hostal Los Delfines

Hostal Los Delfines
(Pink building one block east of main plaza)

Capurgana's Hostal los Delfines is a great backpacker option. It's located less than a five minute walk from where the lancha (boat) from Turbo will drop you off, and it's even closer to the airstrip if you're going to fly from Medellin with ADA. If you get lost any local will know where it is. It's the pink building, just a block east from the main plaza, which also doubles as a soccer field.

Owner Anibal is a wealth of information about the area, and often meets incoming boats at the dock. Prices vary between high season and low season, but in low season you can get a private room with cable tv and private bathroom for just $15.000. That's a good deal in any country!

Unfortunately, there is no wifi in this great spot, but there are two places just 50m down the road where you can use wifi. The rooms are spacious and pleasantly decorated, although most have concrete floors. In keeping with the Caribbean/Pacific tradition, there's no hot water here, but then again, you don't really need it. The mattresses are a little on the firm side, but you'll manage.

All in all, if you're looking for clean and comfortable accommodations on a budget, give Anibal a call, and he will help you out. One of the nicest things, as well, about Hostal los Delfines is that Anibal has his own generator, so when the power shuts off in Capurgana at one or two in the morning, he will give you a fan to plug into the generator, keeping you cool all night. During high season (December, January, July, August) make sure to call and book ahead!
