Pereira's new Kolibri Hostel is located right off the Circunvular, Pereira's zona rosa and main entertainment zone. It's a quick walk to all of the best bars and restaurants in town, and just a 5 minute and $4.000 taxi ride from the main bus terminal where you'll arrive from Medellin, Bogota, or Cali. After 7pm it should cust just $4.700 ($4.000 for the minimum charge plus 700 for the additional night charge). If your taxi driver doesn't know this spot, tell him it's right up the hill from Parque Arboleda, a large shopping mall. It's also right next to the famous Alex Carne de Res.

Dutch owner Daniel started this hostel in the beginning of 2013, and it's a great spot. There are a variety of dorms and private rooms to choose from. Dorms start at $20.000 a night, while private rooms start at $50.000. For slightly more, $60.000, you can also enjoy a private room with a spectacular mountain view. One of the best parts of the hostel is the spectacular veranda where you've got a great view of the city and the surrounding mountains. Showers are powered by solar energy, and they serve up delicious breakfasts as well.

There is a kitchen for guest use, bicycle rental, and a nice dining room area where you can relax and enjoy the meals you've cooked. Like Sweet Home Hostel, the ownership is very knowledgable about activities and touristic trips in Pereira, Salento, Armenia, Manizales, and the greater Coffee Zone area.

With its great location, friendly staff, and affordable prices, there's no doubt that Kolibri Hostel is going to be a backpacking favorite for years to come. This is a great addition to tourism in Risaralda, and thanks to Daniel for opening up this great spot. Colombia Backpacking gives Kolibri Hostel two thumbs up!
